Biography - 1 More Day
Take a
sting of seemingly unrelated events, a lot of faith, the hand of God;
mix them all together and you have the birth of a Holy Spirit breathed
band named 1 More Day.
In late
2005 David Geiger (drummer for the band 5 Smooth Stones) and his family
felt the Holy Spirit calling them leave their current
church. Just a few months earlier a fellow band member and his wife had
begun attending a new church. The church was looking for a praise team
and after talking it over with their bass player, the four of them
decided to help this church launch a praise team.
It was
then that the announcement was made that the lead singer and guitarist
for 5 Smooth Stones (Karen and Ben Karner) were moving away and that the
band would likely have to dissolve. While the rest of the band was
digesting this news, tragedy struck. David’s 22 year old cousin was
severely injured in a car crash and died later that day. The day of the
funeral, Ben (the departing band member) lost his grandfather.
Even with
all that had happened, the remaining members were committed to
continuing to play music together and this still unnamed band began to
practice.
They
began to think about all that had happened as they were searching for a
band name. The theme that seemed to keep popping up over and over was,
TIME. When a friend is lost, when a loved one is lost, when a family
member is lost; do people wish for a bigger house? Another car? More
money? No, all they want is 1 More Day. |
