Pray with us

As 1 More Day continues our time of prayer, reflection and seeking God's will, please pray with us.  We are asking that God use this ministry to His glory.  We are also praying that He will introduce us to fellow workers in Christ that share this quest. We welcome your prayers and notes of encouragement.  We hope to see you soon !

The Longest Day We Didn’t Play

If you ever thought you wanted to be in a band, you need to read this one.

We were supposed to play an outdoor multi-band event in Ashville, NC and take the stage at 7PM. The day started at 7AM. We loaded up and pulled out about 8:30. We arrived at the stadium about 11AM ready to set up and do a sound check, but the sound crew was running a bit behind so the sound check got put off till the afternoon. Since the day got off to a late start our slot got pushed to 8PM. About 30 minutes before we were to take the stage, the heavens opened up and the rain began to pour. The plastic tarps came out and we began to cover all the instruments.

After the rain stopped, we learned that the rain had soaked the power distribution system and it was unsafe to continue. We packed up all our gear and were about ready to roll out when we learned that Fighting Instinct was going to play an acoustic set. They did an amazing job and we personally thanked them after the concert. Then we piled in the van and started for home. We arrived after midnight and caught a few hours sleep before church.

A great Day at Stillwater !

We had a great time at Stillwater with the kids from Middlesex Children's home and the ski team from "In His Wakes"  The band was invited to play the event and serve lunch.  We spent the whole day at the camp and the band support team did an awesome job of helping make things run smoothly.  At the end of the day we handed out some ice cream sandwiches and hung out at the 40 acre lake.  Some of the band went canoeing. Hey, did anybody get pictures?

Worship in Oxford

Hey folks,
Just wanted to let ya know what's been going on. Yesterday we had a chance to play in Oxford, NC. It was a blast, as always Chaplin Matt was there to get us anything and everything we need. We appreciate this greatly. Yesterday we did our entire set themed on love. We try to always do this with our music, however Sunday was special. We read from the scriptures in Matthew, where our Father talks to us about loving others. In this passage we are told that if we can not love our earthly neighbors (who we can see and know) than how are we to love our Father in heaven (who we have yet to meet in person). I don't know of any one who can hear this message and not be challenged in some way. I guess this just goes to show us (believers or not) how beautiful our Savior was, and is today. I doubt there is any among us who don't find our selves struggling to love EVERYONE sometimes.

As for all us (1-More Day Members) we had a great time talking to all the kids who showed up to worship our Creator and support us. We started the day off with a bang (at 6:00 AM) and headed to Oxford. We nearly accomplished a record set up time when putting up the equipment. We played for an hour or so then hung out with supporters (I say supporter because I don't feel cool enough to say fans yet. If any one deems me cool enough, I guess I start saying fans, until then, you guys are supporters. ha ha) who bought t shirts and CDs (which you can buy to at any shows or band functions. there all the rage these days). We went out to eat, and gorged on Chinese food till we were sick, then headed home in the rain. Well any ways I got to go, but thanks for keepin up with us. GOD bless, Carpe Diem, and I LOVE YOU.

A Public Spectacle

After leading worship with the volunteers from Operation Outcry last night we met with them again today.  This time we were invited to play at the NC State Capital as Operation Outcry informed the public about the consequences of ending a pregnancy through abortion.  It was a moving event and we were honored to be invited.

The Spirit moved in worship

We made the trip all the way up to Oxford, NC to play at the Masonic Children's Home.   It was a powerful night of praise and testimony.  We got to meet a lot of great kids and talk to them about Jesus.  We would like to thank Chaplin Matt for inviting us up to the campus and for asking us to come back for Sunday worship. We are looking forward to doing that soon!

The Holy Spirit rocked the house

Last night we played a concert for the great kids and youth leaders at Freewill Baptist Children’s Home in Middlesex, NC.  Wow, what a night!  We got to see some old friends and we got to make some new ones.  It was great working with our friend and coworker in Christ, Jan Hamburg of Camp Stillwater again.  (we’re going back to Stillwater on 9-21-06).  Jan made sure that every kid at the concert got a FREE CD.  (thanks Jan, you’re awesome)

We met a lot of great kids and took pictures with some. We hope and pray that the words that were sung and spoken helped them in their spiritual journey and will deepen their Love for Christ.

We also had a group of girls that traveled all the way from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC to see the band.  Thank you so much for coming to praise the Lord with us.

A great morning of worship

This morning we led worship at Destiny Life Center in Morrisville, NC.  We had a great time of worship with the pastor and congregation.  This was our second event with the wonderful folks at Destiny Life Center.  We did an event in Bond Park in Cary, NC earlier in the summer. The worship was high energy and the Spirit of the Lord was in that place.

Camp Stillwater was a blast and kids came to Christ!

Jan from Camp Stillwater in Dunn, NC saw us at the Biker Rally last week and invited us to play at their youth camp when another band cancelled.  The band was part of an entire night of testimony, gospel sharing and an invitation.  The song We Come to Worship was a hit there and everyone loved it. At one point, everyone was jumping, singing, and coming up to the stage. Testimonies were shared by the counselors   That night 20 kids gave their life to Christ! Here is a note we got from Jan.

Hey brother... I just saw newsletter... that was great !!!  It was true....20 teens and 1 worker from Middlesex, NC got saved that night. The total count for the conference was 31 salvations. !!!

Glory to GOD !!! I think God had a perfect equation in mind for that special night. You were surely a part of it. It was no accident that our band that had been booked since Dec. cancelled. And that I saw you at Freedom and Holy Spirit told me to "get their card.."
Wow. Amazing.

You were God's chosen part of a perfect equation. Thank you for submitting to HIM, …. I saw your heart, and so did God !!

Thank you again for serving the Lord, and looking forward to ministering together again soon.

in HIS service, Jan @ Camp Stillwater

Bikes, Music & Food

Last week we played a concert for the Bikers for Christ.  They were doing a fundraiser to help by a motorcycle for a pastor in India.  The area they serve is so there spread out that the motorcycles help them get around to their parishioners.  What a great bunch of guys and gals!  Here is a letter from Dennis McCutcheon the director of the organization that will provide the bike (MedEquip Missions)

Brothers,

This is to express our gratitude.  I am not sure if you heard or not but by the time I left last Saturday and handed in the money here at Helps International Ministries to the Motorcycle for Missions account there was … $932.

My ministry MedEquip Missions, a ministry of Helps International Ministries added what ever it took to take the account to a $1000 and this will be in India and within two weeks or so a national pastor will be grinning from ear to ear.  The picture in the attachment shows the kind of bike that will be purchased.

Look at a map of India and the most northern area where Pakistan, Kashmir and Nepal come together is the area where this group of pastors works.  One of those churches has 140 average attendees each Sunday service, and if you were attending this week you were asked NOT to come to church next week so another 140 people could attend.  Helps International Ministries has given them the money to double the size of the building they meet in.

These men are actively planting churches and the motorcycle will improve their capacity to serve our Father.

LORD Father in Heaven, to You all glory and honor.  Thank You Father for the generosity of Your children at Freedom Biker Church, Bikers for Christ and One More Day.  I pray LORD for Your anointing of the leadership in these organizations.  May these brothers in Christ be always looking to You for inspiration.  Lord may One More Day be successful not by worldly standards but by Your standards.  Give them poets hearts to use the constraints of language to share Your love and glory with all they come in contact with.  Lord guide and provide for these young men.  We pray this in Jesus’ Powerful Name, Amen!

Thank you so very much for volunteering your band and time.  It will not go unnoticed.

In Christ
Dennis McCutcheon
Director

A Great time with great folks

We played to a packed house at the Source of Truth Bookstore in Clayton, NC.  I have been in that book store many times but I have never seen so many people in that place. The fine folks that own and operate the bookstore were gracious with their time and space.  If you are ever near Clayton, NC have a chance to go by the store, you will enjoy meeting Brad and the whole gang. We had a great time and I think they are going to invite us back there.  If you do get by the store listen on their PA for our CD.  If you don't hear it, ask about it.

Weekends are made for praising the Lord!

Wow, what a weekend.  We went down to Sanford, NC and played an outdoor concert for the folks of Sanford First Baptist.  It was a perfect night for an outdoor event.  We played and then were invited to a part of the commissioning service for about 2 dozen missionaries that were going to the Gulf coast area to help repair damage caused by hurricane Katrina. After the concert we tore down all the stuff and moved it inside for a morning worship service.

The next day it was time for the church members that did not go on the mission trip to lend a hand in their own community. The idea was to have a worship service, then go out and serve the community then come back and have lunch and a concert.

During the worship service, a speaker gave a message from Romans 12 about being the body of Christ and we played the Casting Crowns song “If we are the Body”.  Wow, what a powerful morning. We went with the workers to help rake leaves and clean up for some of the area’s seniors. We came back for lunch and played again!  After loading the trailer, we were all ready for a nap, but someone had to drive home.  (hum, lets take a vote)

Rescue Me!

May 13th we played the Raleigh Rescue Mission celebration and thank you party.  This was the first time any of us have actually played a concert on the street.  What a great time.  This mission program offers help to the poor and homeless.  They serve food and help with job training.  This was a party just to say thanks to all their sponsors for helping them out this year.

Quite a Morning

We played Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.  We set our equipment up and sound checked on Friday and arrived at the church about 7:45 AM on Sunday to play an 8:30 worship service.  The people were warm and friendly.  After church we quickly cleared the stage of our equipment and left.

We had to leave the church immediately after worship and drive about 35 min to Durham so that David could help lead 10:30 worship at his home church.  After church we had lunch and went back to the church in Raleigh to pack the equipment in the trailer and roll out.

We like Strawberries!

Wow, it was great to be invited to play the Strawberry festival in Raleigh, NC.  There was a great crowd and we ran into some old friends from Bikers for Christ.  If you like to ride and you love Jesus, you should check these guys out !
